PURE Teams up with Orangeville Hydro

PURE and Orangeville Hydro are collaborating to bring the idea of a "one-stop" green energy facility for homeowners and businesses in our region.

Green Pathways Inc. is a co-venture between Orangeville Hydro Limited and Power Up Renewable Energy Co-operative Inc. and has been established to help homeowners, farmers, businesses and others to make a difference in the fight against climate change. Our aim is to assist you to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle and engage in more environmentally sound practices in your business or workplace.

PURE, in partnership with The Everdale Environmental Learning Centre has formed a biodiesel co-operative. The new co-op will establish a local, agriculturally-based network of Biodiesel producers and consumers.

PURE has many projects that it is considering for its ongoing agenda. We have limited resources but much to do!

Please contact us to get involved, especially if you have a particular interest. PURE's current on-going projects and activities include:

• Community Wind - INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY - PURE is engaged in discussions with local wind developers and hopes to prepare a business plan which will include investment opportunities for PURE members in these projects. PURE's approach will likely be focused on a co-operative model which will employ a community-based approach so that the entire community in which the wind project is located will benefit from the project as much as possible.
• Solar Hot Water - GROUP PURCHASE INITIATIVE - PURE could work with local providers to organize a group-purchase solar hot-water project. But a critical mass of project participants is needed. Please contact us if you want to be part of the program.
• Solar Photovoltaics - GROUP PURCHASE INITIATIVE - PURE seeks to organize a critical mass of purchasers for solar photovoltaic systems. With a sufficient group purchase and installation effort, and given the options for payback on solar electricity - this project could fly. Contact us for details and let us know if your roof could use a solar panel or two!
• Geothermal Heating and Cooling - GROUP PURCHASE INITIATIVE - PURE is developing advice and expertise on these types of systems for energy-efficient home or commercial heating and cooling. Call us for details. Group-purchase options are being explored.
• Water Power - INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY - PURE is investigating a project to restore an historical water power site in our region. This project may represent an investment opportunity for PURE members. Our business plan is being prepared - details to be announced.
• Biomass - PURE is investigating local opportunities for the generation of electricity from agricultural biomass or waste products. Entrepreneurs needed!
• Sustainable Building - PURE is engaged in discussions with several groups who are pursuing local development projects which involve the construction of buildings, both residential and commercial, and we are providing advice and support to those projects to make them as sustainable as possible, demonstrating sustainability in terms of construction, materials, indoor air quality, and ongoing energy, water and waste handling issues.

• Communications - PURE is always looking for ways to deliver its message to the community and build support for its projects. These efforts include newsletters, workshops, information events, etc. Please get involved and ask us how you can contribute.
